New project will develop advanced biochar fertilizers

A new project aims to develop a fertilizer based on available organic surplus residues that can replace conventional fertilizers, increase resource use efficiency and offer economic returns to farmers.

The coordinator of FACCE SURPLUS, Nicolas Tinois, was invited to present the ERA-NET in Canada.

FACCE SURPLUS presented during the yearly meeting of the International Bioeconomy Forum in Ottawa (CA).

Large amounts of agricultural waste, municipal landscaping, gardening waste and post-consumer wood are buried, dumped or, even burnt. This could be avoided by using such resources in biorefineries and encouraging small-scale flexi-feedstock biorefineries (SFB).

Pre-Announcement of 3rd FACCE SURPLUS Call for proposals

FACCE-JPI and FACCE SURPLUS pre-announce the upcoming call for joint research projects. The indicative available budget amounts to 6M€. The call is expected to open on 09.01.2019 with a closing date for pre-proposals on 19.03.2019.

Salty soils offers a hidden gem for biomass production

A new project will develop methods for sustainable production of halophytes species in salt-affected areas. The aim is to use the obtained biomass to produce bio-based products, energy and food/feed supplements.
