FACCE SURPLUS is an ERA-NET Cofund, formed in collaboration between the European Commission and a partnership of 15 countries in the frame of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI).
FACCE SURPLUS (Sustainable and Resilient agriculture for food and non-food systems) is committed to improve collaboration across the European Research Area in the range of diverse, but integrated, food and non-food biomass production and transformation systems, including biorefining.
The application process consisted of two separate and consecutive steps: Pre-Proposal and full proposal.
The projects began in the beginning of 2016 and all projects must be completed by the end of April 2019.
In January 2017, FACCE SURPLUS launched a second call for transnational research projects on "Small scale Biorefineries". The deadline for the submission of pre-proposals was March 7, 2017.
The deadline for full proposal submission was July 17, 2017.
FACCE SURPLUS is an ERA-NET under the Cofund scheme of Horizon 2020 of the European Union.
The call for proposals is a joint call from the 21 collaborating countries and the EU for transnational research projects on the thematic area of sustainable and resilient agriculture, which falls within a core research theme of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE–JPI).
Further joint activities that go beyond this co-funded call are planned, in order to contribute to the establishment of a renewable bioeconomy in the ERA.
