2026 Grant Type 1

Large Grant for new projects:

PARTICIPANTS: At least one academic applicant and one industry partner

LENGTH: Up to 3 years

BUDGET FOR EACH PROJECT: Up to DKK 6,5 Million

TOTAL FUNDING AVAILABLE: Up to DKK 52 Million 

PURPOSE: To address complex research problems inspired by unmet clinical needs

3-Step Process and Deadlines:

STEP1. IDEAS, CHALLENGES, and/or RESOURCES are openly shared on the WorldLabs collaboration platform, and teams/projects are formed. 29 April

STEP2. ABSTRACTS are submitted for review. 16 June 

STEP3. INVITED FULL-LENGTH APPLICATIONS are submitted 24 September

Anyone can post an idea, challenge or resource. All ideas and applications are posted through WorldLabs. All templates can be found in WorldLabs under the call for which you are applying.


SCIENTIFIC SCOPE

ODIN focuses on research within some of the most pressing global health challenges, where outcomes hold strong innovation potential. ODIN and its funded projects are supported financially by both the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) and the Lundbeck Foundation (LF).

LF-funded Scope – up to DKK 14 million

› Diseases of the central nervous system (CNS)

NNF-funded Scope – up to DKK 38 million

› Cardiovascular and Cardiometabolic diseases (CMD & CVD)

› Infectious diseases

› Regenerative medicine

› Disease-agnostic platform technologies and research tools/methods for broader healthcare applications*

*Research within platforms/tools/methods must demonstrate that the technology, tool, or method can eventually be applied to at least one of the other NNF-scope areas.


TEAM

THE MAIN APPLICANT must be an associate or full professor from one of the 5 Danish partner universities (see information for academics)

PARTNERS from any other university, hospital, or non-profit company are welcome, provided they can agree to the open terms and standard agreements. All public/non-profit partners may receive a portion of the project funding

COMPANIES provide in-kind support to the project. They do not provide or receive grant funding. Each project must have at least one company partner


IMPORTANT NOTE

A standard Project Agreement is to be entered into by all project participants before starting an ODIN project. The agreement is non-negotiable, as the terms have already been defined by the founding companies and universities for the purpose of ease-of-collaboration. ABOUT ODIN

We unite bright minds from industry and academia to jointly create need-driven clinical research projects - and pave the way for innovative new treatments and diagnostics. We fund the best project ideas through competitive funding calls. Although companies cannot receive funding, it is free of charge to join.

The platform is sponsored by the Novo Nordisk Foundation with 180 million DKK from 2024-2029.
