SPEAKER 1: Darcle Nielsen

Short Bio: After a few years in the rubber industry, Darcle has moved to the packaging world where she has spent the past 20 years. Initially, she helped consumers to carry large packs and brand owners to increase sales by developing multi -packs systems and applications which combined convenience and safety with minimal packaging. In the most recent years, she’s been supporting companies to protect, seal and deliver their products safely. Darcle has a background in chemical engineer with an MBA in international business and lives with her family in Italy.

APPLICATION OF IN VITRO BIOASSAYS FOR PACKAGING SAFETY TESTING

SPEAKER 1: Bernhard Rainer

Short Bio: Bernhard Rainer is currently employed at the University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien as researcher/lecturer. His main field of expertise is the safety testing of packaging materials, in which he has experience for almost five years. His research group applies in vitro bioassays, such as the Ames Assay, to study genotoxic activity of different types of food contact materials. In addition, he works as a university instructor in the fields of chemistry and applied microbiology, where he holds lectures for both bachelor and master students. He was employed in the R&D department of an Austrian Biotech Company (Lactosan GmbH).
