Session 7

RECYCLING AND END-LIFE

Currently, at the end-life of food product consumption, a large amount of packaging waste escapes formal collection and recycling systems, eventually it ends-up polluting our soil, air and oceans, while their material value is forever lost to the economy. Research efforts are now dedicated to improving sorting, end of life treatment, compostability,  to effectively switch from a linear to a circular economy.  This session explores strategies towards implementation of higher recycling target towards elimination of single use food packaging.
