Session 6

METRICS AND ASSESSMENT OF PACKAGING SUSTAINABILITY

The continuous search for more environmentally friendly food packaging solutions has been receiving the attention of a broad research community at the global level. Increasing efforts are needed to evaluate the effective reduction in the GHG-emissions and determine all relevant environmental and health impacts as well as resource-related burdens caused by any possible alternative. This session will focus on metrics,  with emphasis on the importance of including the food itself in food packaging LCAs.
