The special session on the 17th of June will highlight the interface between circular economy, food packaging, and sustainability. Emphasis will be laid on exploring innovative strategies, best practices, and transformative solutions to help the food and packaging industry evolve towards a more circular and sustainable future. The session will provide an overview of the current situation in food packaging and offer six selected talks on different perspectives such as circular economy models, ecological footprint, eco-friendly materials and product design, as well as waste management.

Building upon the special session, the workshop on the 18th of June will include an interactive discussion aimed at identifying research needs and gaps as well as promoting future international and interdisciplinary research activities in the field of sustainable food packaging.
