🌿 In my PhD project, I am interested in the challenges and opportunities for ecological intensification in Sweden through the diversification of organic farming practices in cropping systems.🌿
Hosting Institution:
Department of Soil Sciences at FiBL, Switzerland, Group of Nutrient Management & Symbioses
From November 2025 to January 2026
Project Title: PlantaGO, Biological nitrification inhibition in leys including Plantago lanceolata
Methods: In a pot-experiment testing different ley mixtures
Objectives: Familiarize myself with laboratory and greenhouse biochemical methods to understand the effect of this plant on soil nitrogen transformations and deepen my knowledge about organic agriculture research.
Enhance nitrogen use efficiency in cropping systems by incorporating Plantago lanceolata to reduce harmful N2O emissions and nitrate leaching losses while maintaining productivity.
"It was really nice to be back at FiBL after 7 years. Last time, I came as an intern and was working in the Entomology group. The six months I spent here included long summer days, field work in 30 degrees and of course beautiful harvests of all kinds for our experiments. This time, it is winter in Frick. Despite the grey and cold weather, I see warm smiles on the familiar and new faces which make me feel very welcome. The institute has now a lot of new buildings and a much larger amount of staff. I spoke to people who seem to all be working on highly relevant topics and share a vision of sustainable food production. I feel like I am at the right place," Rafaelle Reumaux.
