"During my stay in Poland with my two hosts institutions, I expect to explore and learn more about the germination process of brown rice and how it can improve the bioavailability of nutrients and molecules that are beneficial to human health. In addition, I will evaluate the synergy between GBR and probiotics belonging to the Lactobacillus spp and Bifidobacterium spp genera in order to formulate a symbiotic which will subsequently be tested in ex vivo conditions," Georgiana Bosco.
Hosting Institution: Oncology Department, University of Torun & Collegium Medicum Bydgoszcz, Poland
November 1st – April 30th
Proposed Project during Mobility visit:
The research activity carried out during this period provided useful opportunities for scientific exchange and discussion. The collaborative environment was particularly helpful for comparing experimental strategies and refining the design of the ongoing in vitro assays. In addition, the support of the host supervisor, together with the guidance of my home supervisors from the University of Catania and Sacco System, remained an important reference for planning the next experimental steps and interpreting the results obtained so far.
