✨Three PIG-PARADIGM PhD students presented posters at the Annual Meeting on Immunology and Infectious Diseases, held in Helsingør, Denmark, from October 7th to 9th, 2024.
This year's meeting had the theme "Immune Response, Inflammation, and Repair" and provided valuable insights to understand the mechanisms of both cellular and humoral immune responses of the body, as well as giving an introduction to ongoing research within the field of immunology in both humans and animals.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to gain insights, share knowledge, and strengthen collaborations within the international research community. As a social treat to all the young scientists the PhD school had arranged a trip to Helsingør Castle, where participants had the opportunity to mingle in a less formal setting.
👉 PhD student Cecilie Brandt Becker (University of Copenhagen) presented her poster on how she plan to evaluate the intestinal mucus barrier by applying different antibodies to visualize changes in mucins (glycoproteins) in response to post-weaning diarrhea.
👉 PhD student Ulia Renfelia Baysi (Aarhus University) showcased her poster titled "Stress-induced alterations in the microbiota-gut-brain axis and their role in post-weaning diarrhea in piglets", focusing on the study to explore the microbiota-gut-brain axis's role in post-weaning diarrhea pathogenesis by inducing stress to weaners.
👉 PhD student Astrid Pilgård Rasmussen (Aarhus University) presented her research on "Anti-inflammatory and antioxidative diet interactions on oxidative distress and gut health in weaned pigs", which explores using food production residues rich in phenolic compounds to mitigate oxidative stress on weaned pigs.
