Miniature instruments are being developed and tested by the Mars Simulation Laboratory. One instrument, the Telltale, was sent to Mars by the NASA Phoenix mission. A miniature Laser anemometer was developed and tested to engineering model level in collaboration with a private company for ESA
Electrical Charging of Martian Dust
Knowing the electrical charge state of the Martian sand in sand storms can give information necessary for modelling of chemical processes, that are possible on the surface of Mars, and for dust, it is important to the safety of instruments on the Martian surface and to the function of solar panels. A collaboration with a Greek Automation Company on a method for cleaning of solar panels is taking place, and another collaboration with an Italian company concerning hazardous properties for human exploration on the Mars surface has applied for EU financing.
