SESS centre leader gives keynote speak at the ECE 2023 in Crete, Greece

SESS centre leader Christopher Topping participates in the 12th European Congress of Entomology, ECE 2023, in Crete, Greece.

The 20th of October 2023 at 10:30-11:00 EEST, Christopher Topping will give a keynote speech at Hall 1, Session 15 Integrated Pest Management (IPM):

"The Animal Landcape and Man Simulation System (ALMaSS), a simulation framework for developing IPM"

SESS participates and presents at the ECEM 2023 in Leipzig, Germany

SESS members Trine Poulsen and Jordan Chetcuti participated in the 9th European Conference on Ecological Modelling, ECEM 2023, the 4th to 8th of September 2023, in Leipzig, Germany.

This year, the ECEM welcomes contributions that directly or indirectly supports tranformation, including strategies and models that focus on improving one or more of the following:

        Representation of response mechanisims
           Multi-criteria model evaluation
           Model-data fusion
           Sensitivity and robustness analyses
Upscaling and transferability to new regions
           Link to management scenarios
           Social-ecological systems
           Transparency and reproducibility
Implementation and testing of theories and concepts
           Multi-modelling synthesis

The SESS centre is involved in many of these aspects, and will present the following:

  1. Poster "Introducing the Formal Model and Model Implementation Documentation with Doxygen (MIDox) Paper Formats for Transparent and Reproducible Modelling" by Jordan Chetcuti at The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Campus, "KUBUS" Foyer, the 5th of September at 12:30-14:00 CEST
  2. Presentation "Modelling the Fate of Pesticides in ALMaSS: A Multi-Compartment Approach for Risk Assessment" by Trine Poulsen at The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Campus, "KUBUS", Hall 1 CD, the 5th of September at 14:00 CEST
  3. Presentation "A Comprehensive Agent-Based Model for Bumblebees with Temperature Feedback" by Jordan Chetcuti at The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) Campus, "KUBUS", Hall 2, the 7th of September at 15:00 CEST

Online ALMaSS course

ALMaSS: A systems simulation approach to environmental & wildlife management

This course will provide the participants with a basic overview of ALMaSS and its components and show you where to start to create species models or new landscapes. The course is held the 18-22nd of October 2021.

The course is a 2+2 ECTS PhD course.

This course is now closed for registration.
