✨ We are excited to welcome Buwen to the PIG-PARADIGM team!
Buwen joins as a PhD student in the Data Integration Pillar at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. He will be working with Jan Gorodkin, Mani Arumugam, Merete Fredholm, and Christian Anthon.
🐖 How do host and microbiome pathways differ in pigs that are resistant or susceptible to diarrhea? Buwen will conduct intensive data analysis to identify potential molecular interactions between RNA transcripts, as well as between RNA and proteins, from both the host and the microbiome. His final aim is to identify key components in the host and the microbiome of importance for maintenance of homeostasis and identification of host-pathogen networks.
🔬 Originally from China, Buwen completed his MSc in Computer Science with a focus on bioinformatics at China Agricultural University. His research includes biological sequence data mining and the development of molecular interaction algorithms. He aims to assess AMR risks and reduce the usage of antibiotics, contributing to more sustainable and effective disease treatment.
Welcome to the team, Buwen!
