🎉 We’re excited to celebrate the recent success of Post Doc Alejandra Mejía-Caballero, who won a presentation prize at the UC Davis Research Retreat on Host-Microbe Interaction, held at Granlibakken, Tahoe City, California!

🐽 The presentation, titled "Intraspecies diversity and function of Lactobacillus amylovorus in the porcine gastrointestinal tract,” emphasizes the importance of L. amylovorus as a member of the gastrointestinal tract in post-weaning pigs, highlighting its genomic and phenotypic diversity. The ultimate goal for this study was to identify traits in these strains that could benefit piglets during the weaning transition.

💡 This recognition highlights the impactful work being done within PIG-PARADIGM to enhance pig health. Alejandra is currently working in Maria Marco’s lab at the Department of Food Science and Technology, University of California, Davis. Research in the Marco Lab examines the roles of microorganisms in determining food safety, food quality, and gut health. Learn more about the lab 👉 https://lnkd.in/dsmJhtdw

🙌 Congratulations again, Alejandra, on this well-deserved achievement!
