PIG-PARADIGM participates engaged in Danish political initiative on reducing antimicrobial usage

✨ A few PIG-PARADIGM participants have actively engaged in a Danish political initiative advocating for the reduction of antimicrobial usage in the animal sector.

This project (in Danish) aimeds to provide recommendations to Danish policymakers on reducing antimicrobial usage in both swine and cattle production. The project kicked-off in November 2023, bringing together 50-60 participants from various relevant fields such as veterinarians, researchers, medical industry representatives, and other interest organizations. During the workshop, participants collaborated to offer suggestions and recommendations.

On February 20, 2024, a follow-up event was held to present these recommendations (in Danish) to politicians and engage in further discussion and debate. PIG-PARADIGM's Scientific Project Manager, Lasse Sommer Mikkelsen, attended both meetings in person, while Professor Jens Peter Nielsen, Research Theme Lead in the Host Pillar, participated in the a panel discussion on February 20.

With a vision to reduce the overall need for antimicrobial treatments, mitigate the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and foster long-lasting impacts in raising awareness and promoting collaboration to address the AMR challenge, PIG-PARADIGM recognizes the importance of engaging stakeholders from all sectors. PIG-PARADIGM will continue to actively seek opportunities to engage different stakeholders, working collaboratively to develop and implement sustainable solutions and creating a healthier future for both humans and animals.
