New blog post: Gut Barriers and Beyond: Using AI and Microscopy to Decode Post-Weaning Diarrhea

Cecilie Brandt Becker is a PhD student in veterinary sciences at Copenhagen University and a member of the Host Pillar within the PIG-PARADIGM project.

Her research focuses on the pathological characterization of interactions between the intestinal barrier and the microbiome, aiming to identify differences between robust and non-robust (susceptible) pigs in relation to post-weaning diarrhea. For her study, instead of a traditional microscope, Cecilie employs computer software for digital image analysis, utilizing deep learning models and pattern recognition to investigate changes in the intestinal barrier.
