It's time for another round of PIG-PARADIGM Monthly Seminars! This month, the spotlight is on the Data Integration Pillar as they share the latest updates from their benchmark study.
As an international, cross-institutional, and interdisciplinary research project, PIG-PARADIGM boasts 5 partner institutes and over 60 researchers actively engaged. While collaboration brings numerous benefits for knowledge exchange and innovation, ensuring alignment across all partner institutes is paramount to the project's progression.
In this specific case, the results of 16S sequencing are influenced by various factors such as the protocol used, DNA extraction kit, and sequencing methods. To address this, the benchmark study was initiated by the Data Integration Pillar at the 2023 PIG-PARADIGM Annual Meeting to compare techniques and extraction methods for 16S rRNA analyses across different partner institutes. The Data Integration Pillar hopes this study will yield valuable recommendations for all project participants.
Jesse A. Buijink , a PhD student from Mani's group at University of Copenhagen, presented the latest updates and preliminary results of the benchmark study, sparking enthusiastic discussions. The Data Integration Pillar also plans to share the updates from the benchmark study at our upcoming 2024 Annual Meeting, where most project participants will be present.
With 46 attendees, this seminar set a new record for participation, underscoring the project's progress and integration. A heartfelt thank you to all our dedicated researchers, advisory board members, and management team for their invaluable contributions and commitment to our development.
