Global Collaboration Shines at the 2024 PIG-PARADIGM Annual Meeting

🐽 We wrapped up the 2024 PIG-PARADIGM Annual Meeting with a great success! This year, we welcomed over 70 participants, and we expanded the program from 2 to 3 days, with an additional workshop day for Early Career Researchers. It was an incredible gathering where we had fruitful discussions, shared valuable insights, and strengthened our community bonds🌟

The 2024 PIG-PARADIGM Annual Meeting concluded with resounding success, spotlighting the collaborative efforts of leading research institutions from around the world. Held from 30th of April to 2nd of May 2024, at Wageningen University & Research, the event brought together over 70 researchers, academics, and industry experts from the EU and the U.S., fostering a truly global exchange of ideas.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from Charlotte Lauridsen, Coordinator of PIG-PARADIGM, and Hauke Smidt, Chair of the Microbiome Pillar. Following the welcome, attendees heard an insightful keynote speech by Anders Dalsgaard, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board and senior scientific consultant at The International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS),  titled "Interventions to Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) – A Global Perspective".

Over the next two days, more than 30 Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from the four research pillars presented updates on their subprojects, sparking numerous fruitful discussions. Following the project updates, breakout sessions were held to facilitate pillar and topic-specific small group discussions. On Day 3, ECRs had the opportunity to participate in different workshops led by esteemed senior researchers, including "Pig Husbandry Practices and Influence on Piglet Development in the U.S. and Denmark", “Subproject Dependencies within PIG-PARADIGM”, and “Metadata”.

Beyond the academic program, the meeting provided ample opportunities for networking and socializing. In-person interactions fostered meaningful connections and laid the groundwork for future collaborations.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a resounding success!
