On September 13th, PIG-PARADIGM Early Career Researcher Sangwoo Park successfully defended his PhD and earned his degree from the Department of Animal Science at UC Davis. During his defense, Sangwoo presented his PhD research on the "Impacts of Monoglycerides on Intestinal Integrity and Disease Resistance of Weaned Pigs." Throughout his PhD, Sangwoo also served as a teaching assistant and presented his research at various conferences. He received the 2023 and 2024 American Society of Animal Science Young Scholar Award, as well as the 2024 Graduate Studies Travel Award.
Sangwoo' s research within PIG-PARADIGM focuses on enhancing pig nutrition and health by exploring dietary interventions to reduce reliance on antibiotics and minimize the use of them by improving gut integrity and disease resistance aiming to improve overall animal well-being. He will continue his work as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Yanhong Liu's lab, where he aims to further investigate innovative nutritional strategies to enhance livestock sustainability and contribute to the development of antibiotic alternatives for healthier animal production systems.
