Celebrating the first PhD completed from start to finish within PIG-PARADIGM
🎉 Big congratulations to Pernille Aagaard Madsen, who recently successfully defended her PhD at Aarhus University, Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences! This milestone also marks the first PhD to start and complete entirely within the PIG-PARADIGM project.
Pernille's research is part of the PIG-PARADIGM sub-project in Nutrition Pillar, focusing on identifying oxidative stress markers that arise during bacterial infections and exploring antioxidant interventions that could potentially buffer the impact of post-weaning diarrhea (PWD). Her research showed that antioxidant-enriched diets improved piglet’s antioxidant status and indicated that they can contribute to a reduction of the severity of E. coli-induced diarrhea, suggesting a dietary strategy for healthier pig production that potentially can lower the need for antibiotics.
👏 Huge congratulations from the entire PIG-PARADIGM project to Pernille for this outstanding achievement!
