"The image was created via the illumination of the mCherry fluorescent protein. mCherry is a member of the mFruits family of monomeric red fluorescent proteins (mRFPs). Fluorescent proteins are used to tag components in the cell, so they can be studied using fluorescence spectroscopy. Here, the mCherry expressing strain was created for protein purification."
