Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) is the Norwegian node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership. NCMM’s main focus is to conduct cutting edge research in molecular medicine and biotechnology, and translate these findings into clinical practice.

Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) is the Norwegian node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership. NCMM’s main focus is to conduct cutting edge research in molecular medicine and biotechnology, and translate these findings into clinical practice. The centre also acts as a greenhouse for young, talented scientists from all over the world.

NCMM’s history

NCMM was formally established in 2007 as a joint venture between the EMBL, and the universities of Helsinki, Oslo and Umeå. Aarhus University later joined this partnership in 2013. NCMM was formally inaugurated as a joint venture between the University of Oslo (UiO) as host, the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and Helse Sør-Øst (HSØ) at the end of 2008. In 2015, NCMM was formally organized under the UiO Faculty of Medicine.In 2016, after recommendations from the Board of the Faculty of Medicine on behalf of UiO, and with support from the EMBL, Helse Sør-Øst, and RCN, NCMM merged with the Biotechnology Centre of Oslo (BiO) to become NCMM Translational Research and NCMM Biotechnology.
