Work Package 6

Data Management and Archiving

Open Science for SUBNORDICA

A project of this scale will require significant storage capacity, both for new, raw data collected by the project and the derivative data sets that are produced by processing and interpretation. Many large datasets will be created and need to be accessible to all work packages, partner institutions, and other interested parties.

Data collected within the project must be accessible to project members, findable, secure and held in conditions conforming to best practice and national regulations. Outputs derived from these data will conform to FAIR principles and be as open as possible within relevant regional and national legislation. It will be vital to the successful outcome that these data be accessible to all partners for the life of the project and to a wider audience once the research is complete.

The Subnordica team includes many software developers, and the creation of software will be essential due to the leading-edge nature of the project’s research. This will include applications to assist in the collection, processing and interpretation of data, as well as software which enables user interaction with, and understanding of, our interpretations. This software will also conform to the FAIR principles for research software wherever possible.
