Vince Gaffney

Vince is the 50th Anniversary Chair in Landscape Archaeology at the University of Bradford, and  SUBNORDICA Principal Investigator with responsibility for Work Packages 1, 5 and 6.  Previous marine research projects have included the AHRC marine programmes ‘Taken at the Flood’ and ‘Unpath’d Waters, as well as the ERC Advanced Grant, ‘Europe’s Lost Frontiers’. Prior to these, ha managed the North Sea and West Coast Palaeolandscapes Projects funded by the UK Aggregate Levy and US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.  Other research projects include the Ludwig Botlzmann Institute “Stonehenge Hidden Landscapes” Project, survey of the Roman city at Wroxeter, survey of Diocletian’s Mausoleum in Split, landscape studies on the Central Dalmatian islands and the wetland landscape of the river Cetina (Croatia), fieldwork in Italy centred on the Roman town at Forum Novum, historic landscape characterisation at Fort Hood (Texas) and internet mapping of the Mundo Maya region.
