Thomas is a post-doctoral researcher in marine geology and geophysics at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), based in Ostend, Belgium.
His research mainly focuses on the Quaternary stratigraphy of continental shelves and margins, the reconstruction of submerged palaeo-landscapes and the prospection for archaeological material in the marine environment. Through this research, he has built expertise in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of (ultra-)high-resolution marine seismic/acoustic geophysical data, and the integration of such data with boreholes and sediment cores.
In the SUBNORDICA project, Thomas will primarily contribute to the acquisition of geophysical/geological data and the advancement of methodologies to explore areas of archaeological interest in the southern North Sea, addressed in Work Package 1.
