Svea is an archaeologist and senior scientist at the Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
Svea is specialized in Mesolithic and early Neolithic archaeology. Her research is focussed on Stone Age sites in waterlogged conditions and wet soils on land and underwater. She is particularly interested in bringing together landscape use of Holocene mobile groups with an interdisciplinary approach to landscape reconstruction.
Svea is a Principal Investigator of SUBNORDICA leading research in workpackage 4 focused on the Southern Baltic. Here, she is keen revisit known submerged sites to provide multiproxy characterisations of early Holocene land surfaces and associated human activity and to feed into the development of a synergistic landscape and behavioural model across the project.
