Ruth Plets

Ruth is a marine geologist with experience in high-resolution geophysical methods and with a keen interest in marine geo-archaeology and Quaternary stratigraphy.  Her research aims to use and develop methods used in the geosciences for marine archaeological purposes.

She is employed as palaeo-landscape researcher at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) in Ostend (Belgium) where her research concentrates on revealing the palaeo-landscape and archaeological potential of the southern North Sea. Within the SUBNORDICA project she is mainly involved in WP 1 and will contribute to the geological and geophysical data acquisition, core description and analysis, integration of coring and seismic data for sea level reconstruction and palaeolandscape reconstruction as part of the exploratory survey programmes in the southwestern part of the North Sea.
