Heiko Schmidt

Heiko is an environmental scientist and PhD student at the Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

He works in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, using botanical and sedimentological data. His research focuses on reconstructing past landscapes under the influence of changing sea levels, with particular interest in the interactions between humans and their environment.

Heiko is currently focusing on WP4 of the SUBNORDICA project, which is investigating the southern Baltic Sea.
