Hans Huisman

Hans Huisman had a background in soil science and geochemistry before he started working in archaeology. As senior researcher at the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, he works on degradation, preservation and monitoring of archaeological sites, and the application of natural sciences in archaeology, especially micromorphology, chemical artefact analyses and isotopes. As Professor by special appointment in geoarchaeology and archaeometry at Groningen University, he teaches at Bachelor and Master level and supervises PhD students. Fields of special interest are the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition and Early Medieval artefacts.

In the SUBNORDICA project, Hans will support the micromorphological analyses.
