Friederike Bungenstock

Friederike is a Geologist and Head of the unit Coastal- and Quaternary Geology at the Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

Friederike is a sedimentologist. Her research focuses on sea level changes since the last ice age and their impact on coastal landscape development. She is particularly interested in the interplay between subsurface geological pre-conditions, regional and local sediment supply, and the influence of long-term sea-level rise as opposed to storms as single events.

Friederike will work WP2 of the SUBNORDICA project focused in the eastern North Sea region and in WP4 focused in the Southern Baltic. Here, she will contribute to the sedimentological analysis of core data and definition and evaluation of sea-level data to be incorporated in the sea level modelling
