Maria Mäkelä is primarily working within the field of narrative studies and she has been active within the Nordic Network of Narrative Studies.

Previously in the year she held a seminar at Aarhus University regarding "Narrative Double Exposure and the Gnomic Space: Authorial Ethos between Homodiegetic and Heterodiegetic Narration" (poster from March to the left).
