Amir Gholipour is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in environmental engineering. He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Lisbon. Amir's research expertise includes phytoremediation, bioremediation, wastewater treatment, and sewage sludge management. His innovative work on integrating earthworms into Sludge Treatment Reed Beds (STRBs) to enhance sludge dewatering and contaminant removal has garnered attention in the scientific community. Amir is also skilled in applying machine learning and AI for environmental data analysis and predictive modeling.

Our Mission

At the Department of Environmental Science, our mission is to advance the understanding and application of environmental chemistry and toxicology to address pressing environmental challenges. Through innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to develop sustainable solutions for water treatment, pollution control, and resource recovery.

Our Research Focus

  • Biodegradation Processes: Investigating natural and engineered systems for the removal of contaminants from wastewater.
  • Nature-Based Solutions: Developing and optimizing constructed wetlands and other green technologies for environmental protection.
  • Environmental Toxicology: Assessing the impact of pollutants on ecosystems and human health.
  • Circular Economy: Promoting the reuse and recycling of waste materials to create valuable resources.

Collaborations and Impact

Our research is supported by a network of international collaborators, including leading institutions and industry partners. We are committed to disseminating our findings through high-impact publications, conferences, and public engagement, contributing to global efforts in environmental sustainability and circular bioeconomy.
