The recent discovery of a mosquito in Iceland for the first time on record has made news headlines recently, with fears it could be an indication of future northward expansions. Amanda and Lauren were invited by Science to provide an editorial on the matter, and raise the the important point that we lack a monitoring system to detect such invasives moving north.
