The project aims to pioneer the application of complexity economics models for Roman studies and to explore:
- the structuring effect of the Roman transport system and the limiting effects of communication and transport technologies on the economic integration
- gravitational pull effect on the flow of inter-regional trade in the Roman empire excercised by large population, military and redistribution centres
- Roman macroeconomic trends in price fluctuations, competition between producers, and the volume of inter-regional trade flows
