This subproject will engage with the local socio-cultural effects of creating barriers in the borderland and the symbolism that it nurtures. It will explore local perceptions about the fence and investigate how this physical manifestation of the border transcends into social relations and cross-border cooperations. Both Danish and German national minority populations will be included in the research.This subproject is headed by Annika Pohl Harrisson in close collaboration with Michael Eilenberg.
