SUMMER CAMP: CAPITAL OF CULTURE EVALUATION

Between Monday 15th and Friday 19th of August, rethinkIMPACTS 2017 hosted a summer camp for students about evaluation of culture.

During the week the students were introduced to Aarhus 2017, evaluation and methods, after which the students participated in workshops and discussions as a part of making them capable of developing a design for their own smaller evaluation project.

The summer camp ended with a pitching of the projects and comments by the rethinkIMPACTS 2017-team. Below three projects are shortly described.

Charlotte Lange, Master student in Media Studies: In her thesis she focusses on identity and image regarding to Aarhus 2017. She wishes to examine citizens’ perception of Aarhus 2017’s campaigns in the urban space, including how and to which degree they are creating an identity feeling.

Mille Kristensen, Master student in Educational Theory and Curriculum Studies (Danish), wishes to rethink the cultural encounters by focusing on diversity. She wishes to examine how diversity as a theme is treated and convoyed in the culture project EUTOPIA in connection to Aarhus 2017. A special interest point in her thesis is on how cultural projects with a focus on diversity can be attached to the learning objectives in public school.

Pia Christensen, Master student in General Education, focusses on how the 2017-projects are working with sustainability. She wishes to examine how the communication about sustainability can be rethought so the recipient is motivated to take an active part.
