STUDENTS FROM AARHUS UNIVERSITY ANALYZE THE VISIBILITY OF THE GALLERY ‘O’SPACE

The visibility of the gallery 'O'Space have been examined by two BA students in art history at Aarhus University as a part of the course 'Art, Institutions and Communication'.

In connection with an exam project for the course Art, Institutions and Communication, Julie Dam Laursen and Kirse Juul Thomsen, both fifth-semester BA students in art history at Aarhus University, have examined challenges and possible solutions for the gallery 'O'Space – a new gallery for modern art and film created by Aarhus 2017.

Through a combination of a quantitative questionnaire survey and qualitative interviews conducted at 'O'Space, the project concluded that visitors to 'O'Space' had considerable difficulty in finding the gallery.

As part of the exam project developed, Julie Dam Laursen and Kirse Juul Thomsen went on to propose different solutions to help the gallery solve these visibility and name recognition challenges, for example through increased use of social media as well as printed posters and flyers.
