In this presentation I would like to introduce the various approaches I have taken to gauge the impact of culture.
With a background in Economic Geography and through a focus on location decisions by international investors I have always had an interest in how places differentiate themselves.
I commenced my work in this area through economic impact analysis of creative industries in the west of Ireland. Through a number of projects (most recently Galway's bid for European Capital of Culture 2020 and EU funded Creative Momentum Project) I have turned my focus towards how the Culture of places contribute to their economic and social well being.
Currently, I am working with RETHINK Impacts on a social network analysis of the projects funded by ECOC. I will reflect on a number of approaches that, together with colleagues in NUI Galway and elsewhere, are being used to help gauge how places resonate differently.
Cake and coffee will be served during the seminar.
