Research activities in WP1 and part of WP2 and WP4 will take place in lab and at semi-field scale, WP5 at farm household, community and market scale, while the majority of activities (WP2-WP4) will be done at two field experimental sites different with respect to local farming systems and soil types.
Nearby farms together with the extension offices will be involved in testing the new cropping systems and adaptation of the biochar/wood gas and solar-driven drip irrigation prototypes. Socio-economic preconditions, impacts and options for enhancing the impact of adoption at the level of the farm household, community, and value chain will be studied in WP5.
