The project will develop and demonstrate methods for establishing Sphagnum on former peat-extraction areas while maintaining the water table close to the soil surface. Once established, the upper layer of Sphagnum can be harvested while leaving living material behind, allowing the vegetation to regenerate and creating a potentially renewable production system.
