Tetragrammaton: Finding Words for What Is Hard to Say

The Tetragrammaton is the four-letter name of God, traditionally considered too sacred to be spoken aloud. Some of the most important things cannot be said directly – they can only be approached through stories, questions, and thoughtful dialogue. This is the kind of space we hoped to create throughout our project. At our final meeting, the young people experienced a new format of shared reading. Together with the author, they read the unpublished manuscript of Olha Savytska’s novella Tetragrammaton. It was a chance not only to be the first readers of the text, but also to explore it in conversation with the person who wrote it.

“The reading and discussion felt warm and natural, with no fear of expressing different ideas or entering into discussion,” one of the group mentors reflected. This is exactly the kind of space we hoped to create when we started the project: one where books and dialogue help people speak, listen, and truly hear one another.

Another mentor recalled how quickly the meeting became lively and relaxed. The participants talked about their interests, shared photos of their pets, laughed, and remembered moments from previous sessions. Over time, the group had become a real community– with shared memories, inside jokes, and genuine connections. 

Perhaps this is one of the project's most meaningful outcomes.

Тетраграматон. Про слова, які непросто вимовити

Тетраграматон – це чотирибуквене ім'я Бога, яке не вимовляють уголос. Іноді найважливіші речі неможливо сказати прямо – до них можна лише наближатися через історії, запитання та уважний діалог. Саме такий простір ми й намагалися створити протягом проєкту. На завершальній зустрічі проєкту молоді люди спробували новий формат: читали рукопис – ще не опубліковану новелу Ольги Савицької «Тетраграматон» – разом з авторкою. Це була можливість не лише першими познайомитися з текстом, а й обговорити його разом з авторкою.

«Розмова та читання були теплими й плавними, без страху висловлювати різні ідеї та вступати в дискусії», – розповідає менторка однієї з груп. Саме такого простору ми прагнули, коли розпочинали проєкт: щоб книги й діалог допомагали людям говорити, слухати й чути одне одного. Інша менторка згадує, що зустріч дуже швидко стала живою й невимушеною: учасники ділилися своїми історіями, показували фотографії домашніх улюбленців, сміялися та згадували попередні зустрічі. За цей час група стала справжньою спільнотою – зі спільними спогадами, внутрішніми жартами й теплими зв'язками.

Можливо, це і є один із найважливіших результатів проєкту.
