3-4 грудня в Університеті Гісена (Німеччина) відбувся міжнародний воркшоп “Reading between Ruptures: Literature and Reading Cultures in the 21st Century”. Біргітте та Надія долучилися до події, щоб обговорити етичні дилеми, які постають під час організації досліджень із молодими людьми в країні, охопленій повномасштабною війною.

Їхня доповідь “EUkranization of Data Collection: Informed Consent and Assent in a Shared Reading Project for War-Affected Youth in Ukraine” зосереджувалася на ключових етичних питаннях у межах проєкту DaR:UA. Особливу увагу вони приділили темам поінформованої згоди, безпеки учасників та відповідальності дослідників. Обговорення підкреслило, що в умовах війни академічна робота потребує особливої чутливості, прозорості та поваги до досвіду молодих людей.

On December 3-4, an international workshop titled “Reading between Ruptures: Literature and Reading Cultures in the 21st Century” took place at the University of Giessen in Germany. Birgitte and Nadiia participated in the event to reflect on the ethical dilemmas that arise when conducting research with young people in a country affected by full-scale war.

Their presentation, “EUkranization of Data Collection: Informed Consent and Assent in a Shared Reading Project for War-Affected Youth in Ukraine,” focused on key ethical issues within the DaR:UA project. They highlighted questions of informed consent, participant safety, and researchers’ responsibility. The discussion emphasized that in times of war, academic work requires particular sensitivity, transparency, and deep respect for young people’s lived experiences.
