Even the Smallest Among Us Can Make a Big Difference

On 9 September 2026, we presented the DaR:UA project to colleagues and students of Global Studies. Our mentors talked about the project and their own experience of shared reading with young people during the war. They also shared stories about their cities and their personal emotions connected with working in wartime conditions. After the presentation, we explored the shared reading methodology together with the audience, using the children’s book Patron the Dog, published in English by Svichado in 2023.

Patron the Dog reminds us that even something small can be valuable. In the same way, a short shared reading activity can change how we perceive a bigger idea. When the audience does not simply listen about the methodology but also takes part in it, the information becomes more immediate, understandable, and meaningful. For us, this meeting was another reminder that sometimes a small shared experience can open the way to a much bigger conversation.

9 вересня 2026 року ми презентували проєкт DaR:UA колегам і студентам Global Studies. Ментори розповіли про проєкт і власний досвід спільночитання з молодими людьми під час війни, а також поділилися історіями про свої міста та особистими емоціями, пов’язаними з роботою в умовах війни. Після презентації ми разом з аудиторією випробували методологію спільного читання на практиці, працюючи з дитячою книжкою «Пес Патрон», виданою англійською мовою видавництвом «Свічадо» у 2023 році.

Пес Патрон нагадує нам, що навіть маленьке може бути цінним. Так само і коротка практика спільночитання може змінити сприйняття великої ідеї. Коли аудиторія не лише слухає про методологію, а й сама стає її учасницею, інформація стає ближчою, зрозумілішою та глибше сприймається. Для нас ця зустріч стала ще одним підтвердженням того, що іноді саме невеликий спільний досвід відкриває шлях до більшої розмови.
