A Comma Instead of a Full Stop

The final meeting of the project’s experimental phase was a time for conversation, reflection, and gratitude. We looked back on the books we had read together, the discussions we remembered most, and the moments that stayed with us. When we asked the participants to describe the project in just three words, they chose words like warmth, community, reflection, support, respect, comfort, honesty, connection, poetry, hope, and imagination. Everyone chose different words, but they all pointed to the same thing: a shared experience that will stay with us.

During the meeting, participants, mentors, and our project partners received certificates and words of appreciation. Afterwards, we celebrated together over slices of cake, remembering the stories that had grown not only from books, but also between people.

Perhaps the project’s greatest achievement was not simply that we read many texts together. What mattered most was that almost everyone said the same thing: they wanted to meet again and continue shared reading, even after the project had come to an end. So, on that day, we didn’t put a full stop. We simply placed a comma.

Остання зустріч у межах експериментальної фази проєкту стала часом для розмов, спогадів і вдячності. Ми згадували книжки, які читали разом, найяскравіші дискусії та моменти, що запам’яталися найбільше. А коли попросили учасниць і учасників описати проєкт трьома словами, прозвучали: тепло, спільність, роздуми, підтримка, повага, комфорт, щирість, взаємодія, поезія, віра, фантазія. У кожного були свої слова, але всі вони говорили про одне – спільний досвід, який залишиться з нами.

Під час зустрічі учасниці й учасники, менторки й ментори, а також наші партнерки й партнери отримали сертифікати та подяки. А потім усі разом святкували за шматочком торта, згадуючи історії, що народилися навколо книжок і між людьми.

Напевно, найкращим підсумком проєкту стало не лише те, що ми прочитали багато текстів. Найважливіше – майже всі говорили про одне й те саме: хочеться зустрітися знову і продовжити спільночитання поза межами проєкту. Тож цього дня ми поставили не крапку, а лише кому.
