The “From Campus to Careers” project is a joint initiative by a consortium of five universities under Circle U. Our mission is to highlight and strengthen the value of foreign languages and intercultural competencies in higher education — and to make them visible, meaningful and relevant for the career path for all students.
This project has two interconnected resources:
- An Employability Skills Mapping Tool (ESMT) — a framework which helps students, staff and career service professionals to identify, map and communicate the skills and capitals embedded in language education.
- An Online Employability for Languages Module (ELM) — a digital learning module that guides students to reflect on language based and transferable skills and supports them in planning and adjusting their future careers with confidence.
- Language and intercultural skills remain under valued in many labour markets, despite their growing importance in globalised and multicultural work environments.
- Many language competent students lack the resources to articulate the value of their skills effectively.
- Educational curricula often fail to connect language learning with practical career outcomes.
- Employers increasingly seek employees who combine disciplinary knowledge with intercultural com-petence, flexibility and a global outlook.
Our project addresses these challenges by offering practical tools and an evidence based framework to support students and to encourage institutions to align curricula to meet new and emergent market demands.
We welcome contributions from all partners — students, staff, career service professionals, employers, and alumni. If you wish to learn more or collaborate, contact us or follow our updates.
C2C has benefited from input and support from many people among the five partner universities. We wish to acknowledge the interest, time and engagement shown in tying it all together.
