FACCE SURPLUS is an ERA-NET Cofund, formed in collaboration between the European Commission and a partnership of 15 countries in the frame of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI).

In 2015, FACCE SURPLUS launched its first call for transnational research projects. The theme was “Sustainable and Resilient agriculture for food and non-food systems” and the call resulted in the initiation of 14 research projects. In 2017, FACCE SURPLUS launched a second call. Now the theme was "Small scale Biorefineries", and eight projects were commenced.

The research projects from the first call were all completed in 2019. Furthermore, the collaboration in FACCE SURPLUS is to be terminated in 2020.

On this background, FACCE SURPLUS will hold its final conference in Brussels on February 26, 2020.

The programme will include keynote speeches and exchange of views on European advancement in the bioeconomy. An overview of results from the completed FACCE SURPLUS research projects will be given, together with in depth examples of research activities.

The target groups for the conference are representatives from funders, national and European stakeholders and decision makers together with the involved researchers.
