The first open online repository of past social networks will enhance the practice of publication, documentation and cited re-use of past social networks, enabling more ambitious cross-cultural comparisons of past social networks as well as their comparison with present-day social network structures. The success of this approach is demonstrated by the Stanford Large Network Dataset Collection, providing open access to a diverse range of present-day network data that is fully documented and citable and follows the FAIR data and Open Science principles.
