Info about event

Time

Tuesday 13 August 2024,  at 09:00 - 12:00

I would like to invite you for a workshop on biological art on Tuesday 9-12 in room 1593-218 (the day before the ArtBio conference).

The workshop will start with an introduction to biological art by the world-famous bioartist, Oron Catts (who will also give a talk on Thursday for the ArtBio conference) followed by a discussion. Secondly, we will prompt you to reflect upon which current scientific developments could be interesting to thematize in an artwork and how such an artwork could be created using biotechnological materials.

Why you should participate:

  • When working with biotechnology / artificial biology, we have an obligation to reflect on the possibilities, consequences, and ethical implications. Bioart is a great way to initiate and explore a discussion about these topics.
  • There are no requirements for participating, other than a desire to reflect on new technological developments – and your own research.
  • Coffee and cake will be served :-)

Please sign up for participation by replying with a “yes” to this email before Monday August 12.
