Mette Løvschal explains the lifecycle of Calluna vulgaris

On June 28th, ANTHEA members Mette Løvschal, Mark Houghton, Zachary Caple, and David Mehlson led anthropologist Anna Tsing on a tour of Sepstrup Sande. Tsing is a pioneer in the field of multispecies ethnography. Much of her work has focused on the interactions of humans and other species in the formation of landscapes. As our group explores the deep-time dimensions of heathland sociality, we were thrilled for the opportunity to think with Professor Tsing in the field. Hiking through wet and dry heaths, we discussed the historical ecology of Danish heaths and pondered the role that prehistoric peoples played in heathland creation.
