PUBLISH Team at ASEEES Annual Convention 2024

The PUBLISH project team participated in the 2024 ASEEES Annual Convention, held from November 21-24 in Boston, under the theme “Liberation.”

A key contribution was the panel discussion titled “Children’s Publishers Under Wartime Pressure,” which addressed contemporary publishing of children’s books reflecting the experiences of children during the ongoing war.

The panel, chaired by Birgitte Beck Pristed, brought together an interdisciplinary group of scholars: Nadiia Pavlyk, Ekaterina Shatalova, and Mateusz Swietlicki, with Anastasia Maria Ulanowicz serving as discussant. This session examined the challenges faced by publishers and authors of children’s books in wartime, combining literary and narrative analysis with insights from publisher interviews.

The ASEEES Annual Convention continues to be an essential platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration on Eastern European and Eurasian studies, with the PUBLISH team’s contribution adding a critical lens to this year’s theme.
